History of the Jack Russell Terrier

Jack Russell Terriers are a type of working terrier. They were developed in England by the Reverend John Russell (1795-1883) who had a passion for foxhunting and the breeding of fox hunting dogs. The Jack Russell Terrier was developed to go to ground (down the hole) after a fox and to unearth the fox. So you can imagine what tough little dogs they are!! Today they are shown in conformation shows, agility classes and in field trials. They are brave (often times TOO brave!) and agile dogs. They are quite intelligent and get bored easily. The Jack Russell Terrier is an independent and energetic dog that requires plenty of training and attention.

Jack Russells come in many shapes and sizes. In general they range from 12 - 14 inches in height and can have smooth coats, rough coats or broken coats. They can be white with black, tan, lemon, or any combination  thereof. We primarily breed tri-colored smooth coated Jack Russell Terriers.   We are excited to add a black and tan Jack Russell male to our family line-up!!
